Annandale Bands Has a new Director
Marching Atom Band. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Loft served as the band director at Colonial Forge High School in Stafford County, Virginia from 1999 to 2010. He was responsible for all wind and percussion ensembles including three Concert Bands, a Jazz Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble and Marching Band. During his tenure, the marching band has received Virginia Honor Band designation for nine consecutive years. Additionally, Colonial Forge High School has been designated a VMEA Blue Ribbon School for nine consecutive years. Mr. Loft has also served as Director of Bands at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia, and Associate Director at Miami Coral Park Senior High School in Miami, Florida.
Mr. Loft earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from the University of Tennessee at Martin and a Master of Music Degree in Tuba Performance from the University of Miami. Additionally, Andrew Loft was named Stafford County Teacher of the Year and Washington Post Agnes Meyer Outstanding Educator in 2007. He also received the National Band Association Citation of Excellence in 2008. Bands under his direction have performed for President Clinton, President George Bush Sr. four state governors, the Jamestown 400th Anniversary and various countries throughout Europe. Mr. Loft resides in Burke with his wife Bridget and son Ian.
